Wouter J. de Jonge

Wouter now finds himself lucky to be surrounded by an enthusiastic group of 24 PhDs research fellow, technicians, and faculty scientists in an inspiring atmosphere where open and science driven curiosity is coupled to an opportune ambition to succeed in progressing translational science in gastroenterology focused projects. He is a group leader and co-founder of the company Descin research BV, and the Microbiota Center Amsterdam. He currently has 142 peer reviewed papers and 4 patents.

Caroline Oostveen-Verseijden

Caroline works in several disciplines in the research group. With a background as research technician in various academic institutes, she has a broad knowledge of the basics of fundamental research and clinical studies. As a project manager, she’s also involved in the organization of many projects.

René M. van den Wijngaard

During his PhD training René focused on autoimmune aspects of vitiligo at Amsterdam UMC, where he next became a scientific staff member in the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. At Gut Research, his focus is on the role of mast cells and gut fungi/yeast in abdominal pain complaints of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
